get the most out of your electronics with DeviceKnit

What is DeviceKnit?

DeviceKnit was created by some guys with a ton of electronics laying around the house. You might be one of those people, too, or know one. We always want to make the most of what we have, and use technology to improve our lives the best ways we can find.

DeviceKnit is a place to share the devices you are using, and more importantly how you are using them. On top of that, since you might have electronics around that you can’t find a good use for, we wanted to take it a step further. If I have an extra external hard drive laying around, for example, we wanted a simple way to let other people in my area find it and buy it without much effort on my part.

You could always keep the electronics you have around the house listed on eBay, but those listings cost money, while DeviceKnit doesn’t have any per-listing fees. You could use craigslist, which is free, but that costs lots of time to list and re-list your items…. they don’t even hang on to the photos for you!

Our idea is simple: An application on the web, iPhone, and Android that lets you easily create an inventory of the electronics you own. It’s linked up to a “cookbook for gadgets” that we call implementations to help you discover what you can do with what you own.

If there’s something in you’re inventory that you’re willing to part with, check a box to make it available for sale or trade, and other users can start making you offers. Then, you can start submitting your own implementations to show off the ways your are using electronics and software together to solve problems. Thanks for checking out DeviceKnit!
